"A true southern delight!" - Being from California, I thought all Vicksburg had to offer was the military park. Was I ever wrong! Anchuca is a fantastic antebellum home right in the heart of everything. The house itself is beautifully restored and appointed, and the location is so convenient. Chris' marvelous cooking kept us coming in to the restaurant, and Tom was a font of knowledge on all there is to see and do. I would enthusiastically recommend Anchuca and will definitely plan to stay longer on my next visit to Vicksburg!
"Fantastic time" - Just returned from a 3 night stay at this wonderful B&B, and we could not have improved a thing. Not only is the mansion a glorious oasis but the two guys running it are also gems. Tom is a gracious welcoming host and a repository of local historic knowledge; Chris will supply you with an outstanding "plantation" breakfast that will last you well into the latter part of the day. We found the getaway package to be an excellent value and are looking forward to returning soon.

"Thanks" - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Anchuca! The food was GREAT (thanks, Chris!) and our room was perfect! The hospitality from the "get-go" was awesome - starting with the day I called to make our reservations. I can't remember if I talked to Chris or Tom, but I felt very welcome and was really excited about our visit after my phone call. Some people don't appreciate people who ride motorcycles and don't feel we "fit in" in some places we stay. Tom's wonderful history lessons were so interesting!! We both loved hearing all the stories about old Vicksburg, and I wish I could remember them just as you told them! We didn't get to see everything we wanted to yet; however, we are planning our next trip already! Hopefully in the spring of next year (even better would be the fall THIS year, but I don't think I can get off work again that soon for another vacation!). I am enjoying the cookbook, also. I've read all the stories and plan to use several of the recipes. What a memorable stay, the staff is the greatest! Can't wait to return!

"Unexpected pleasure" - It's a good test of a B&B to try it in the off season. The Anchuca passed with flying colors; the surroundings were lovely; the food great and the staff and host very helpful. And, Vicksburg has turned itself into a great tourist destination. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.
"History Abounds" - I just returned from a fabulous two night stay at the lovely Anchuca Historic Mansion in Vicksburg. Starting with the sunset cruise on the riverboat down the Mighty Mississippi where we experienced the most beautiful sunset ever, to the unfolding of Vicksburg's history, eloquently told by owner Tom Pharr, I felt as if I was living in a era gone by. The mansion is dressed in authenticity to the period of the 1800 without that "staged" look. You actually feel like you are in someone's home, and Tom and Chris make every effort to assure your comfort. Chris is an excellent chef, his breakfast historic and his desserts are some of the best you will ever try! I highly recommend Anchuca as a must destination, Vicksburg is so charming!
